The Discovery of Equinite

Central Vermont is where Equinite was "discovered."

Equinite founder and jeweler Robert Merkert bought his daughter a horse. After a visit by the farrier, Bob headed out to the horse's run-in shed (that's it on the left in the photo below) to see how things were going.

The farrier had just left and the hoof trimmings were lying on the ground. Although it sounds corny, Bob noticed as a beam of sunlight illuminated one of the hoof clippings, and his jeweler's eye noticed a hint of the inner beauty, translucence, and depth present in the cast-off item. An idea hit! After months of research and work to get the process just right, the Equinite gem was born.
